Meet LeeLoo (our name, another movie reference), our current foster for the Georgia House Rabbit Society. Been about 3 days.
What we have learned about her so far: She sucks up affection. Although she does not like to be picked up (typical bun behavior), she loves to have her forehead, cheeks/jaw, and ears rubbed, and will come right up to humans seeking same (but won't close her eyes - yet).
She is very curious and goes all over, periscoping to better see everything. She seems to enjoy having space to hop and run, and she will bypass pellets and greens to explore. There are a LOT of bunnies at the shelter; contact them if you can foster, adopt, or bond a companion to your bunny.
What we learned about her history: This adorable English Spot was abandoned, and then rescued covered in fleas and pregnant. After she was spayed, her hostile attitude became much more loving.
NEVER abandon a domestic pet bunny outside "in the wild" - they do not have the coping mechanisms of their wild cousins. This is most often a torturous death sentence from predators, parasites, dehydration, and/or starvation.
What we have not learned: Where she sleeps at night.
If you have a little something to spare, you can donate to GHRS at https://www.houserabbitga.com/donate. No amount is "small".
Thank you.
