Happy Anniversary, Bugs Bunny!

As a bunny blog, today's special anniversary must be celebrated:

Bugs Bunny's official debut was 07-27-1940 in A Wild Hare, 82 years ago today.

Those cartoons are the only reason I know any opera.

Bunya in the chew tunnel

Earlier, Ethel demonstrated gnawing on the chew tunnel from the outside (here).

It's like how different people eat their Reese's Peanut Butter cups. In this clip, Bunya chews the tunnel from the inside.

I love is the way bunnies chew. They go at it like little motors, but partly side-to-side. You can see the slightly bemused and mischievous expression that inspired some cartoonist to make Bugs Bunny's tag line: "Nyaaaah, What's up, Doc?" That cartoonist must have seriously studied real rabbits before beginning to draw the character.

Introducing that Oscar winning rabbit...

This seemed like a timely post (if you plan on watching the Oscars tomorrow night).

Knighty Knight Bugs, a 1958 Looney Tunes cartoon, won the 1959 Oscar for Best Animated Short Film.

Just a reminder to check the pictures in the right-hand column, because new Bunny Things are added all the time. This is from a friend's collection; a few of their bunny things have already been posted and there are plenty more to come.
