Cleaning Day Bunya

Mr. B is in his "it's cleaning day" hidey box.

He used to jump to the top of a castle tower on top of their fun house but he may be getting a little old for the high jumps now... haven't seen him do that in a while. This box is much easier to access - it's on the floor.

If he looks out the front, he can watch TV. Looking to the right, like he's doing in this picture, lets him watch us cleaning their pen, or, more to the point, so he can see when we are done. Then he can return to their hidey box in the pen, or explore the clean litter boxes and fresh hay.

The indignities of humans grooming bunnies

Ethel hates getting her nails cut, but she looks so darn cute anyway.

Meme says: You shall pay for clipping my nails, human. And not just foot flicks...
... careful eating your morning Cocoa Puffs!

And this is what the indignity of what having your scent glands cleaned looks like:
Picture of upper bunny only.
This is a family-friendly blog.
Bunya was mortified (me, too), but he really needed it.

Many, many thanks to thebunnylady of GHRS!

Ethel in the cleaning day "tunnel"

Sunday mornings are our clean the bunny pen day. We take everything out so we can vacuum. This includes pulling the pen away from the wall. Bunya usually goes and plops down somewhere else, typically in the  castle tower that is outside the pen.

Bunya gets out of the way on cleaning day.
The tunnel and ramp have been piled on
top of the castle tower to empty the pen.
(That tower stays on top of their "fun house".
The tower from the pen is in the left foreground.)

As soon as there is a little space between the wall and the pen, Miss Ethel has to run explore. When the pen is pulled away from the wall, the lip of the carpet tilts over and forms a tunnel. She ran to the end (at this time, it was pulled away from only one wall). We were both laughing so hard because then she backed up the whole way - there was too little space to turn around. We didn't get any pictures.

The cleaning went on and Ethel gave the exploration a second try. Same thing happened, so you can get an idea of the first time. However, she did not back up the entire way with her little steps that were extra cute the first time. We kept waiting for OSHA to cite her for not having that vehicle-backing-up "beep beep beep".

Bunny fruit tray

The bunnies are enjoying a fruit tray, little pieces of banana, grape and blueberry (more than they usually at at one time, but it was for the video). In the beginning, the three of them line up and do their cute rapid chewing. Near the end, when Bunya is satisfied there is no more to be had, he cleans up, including the little jerky hand moves and then washes his face.

That healthy bunnies are pretty much self-cleaning is one of their appealing characteristics.
