Funny Bunny Monday Meme*day
Don't know who made this meme, but I'm not sure the bunnies give it that much consideration. More like:
Bunny: Looks like a root. I instinctively chew those.
*Bite*

Bunya and Ethel eating hay
Just about a minute of bunnies peacefully eating hay.
That's all. I like watching bunnies chew. Or yawn. Or flop. Or binky.

The Art of Chewing
or Chewing Bunya, Hidden Ears
Bunya was maybe around 3 when we took this short clip of a bunny chewing.
Just find it amusing.

Funny Bunny Monday Meme*day
It has to be done regularly... but hide your charger cords.
Bunny care point -- Do not "trance" your bunnies. I don't think this bunny is tranced or I would not post it. Being on it's back is not automatically a trance. The concern is that a trance is "tonic immobility", a fear response by a prey animal. They are not relaxed -- it is a last ditch "terminal" defense mechanism; basically, they may be playing dead in an effort to throw off a predator.
Read about it here.
You can avoid coming close to this by having one person hold the bunny upright and another trimming the nails. Also, here's a video with another way to cut a bunny's nails (one person) here.
Here's a post about Bunya, Lucy & Ethel's Mani-Pedi Day at the bunny shelter (from last year, when Lucy was still with us).

Ethel gets her CPE
A CPA in this state must get required hours of Continuing Professional Education (CPE). No problem... except that 16 of the 80 hours must be in "Auditing & Accounting". Which is a shame if you are not in public accounting and have to waste time and money for something totally unrelated to your work, instead of beneficial knowledge that you can use. [Excuse the vent.]
To maximize the utility of the wasted cost of the course, the materials have been re-purposed (after passing the exam). The bunnies also got some CPE, as illustrated here by Ethel.
This actually works out well. Since there are not really any white pages phone books anymore, this was an even thicker substitute. The subject matter was certainly dry. Luckily, she found the topic tastier than I did. There weren't even any personal injury attorney magnets to remove from the covers. And if the bunnies chew this, they are not chewing something else, like charger cords, electric wires, furniture and baseboards. And we're recycling.
And if she wants, Ethel can sit for the CPA exam next year.
Happy endings all 'round.

Ethel at the gym
Just Ethel amusing herself with a couple of long cardboard tubes (from carpet). Maybe she liked the sound they made when the narrow one tapped on the big one. You can see they have had the large one for quite a while by how much of it has been chewed away.

One day at the pen gate and "patio"
Ethel flops by the pen gate, a favored bunny spot.
(See Ethel still flopped at the pen gate, at the right.) Meanwhile, Lucy runs through their wicker chew tunnel...
...and decides to give the paper towel tube a good shaking.
That's some bun fun!

Shaking up the bunny pen
Cleaning the bunny pen and took out everything to do so, even the bunny "funhouse". So, when we started to out it back together, we decided to mix it up a little. We think this keeps the bunnies more interested in their toys and hidey places. They seem to have had a fun day exploring the relocated castle (in the pen now) and funhouse (outside the pen). Even the maze haven and vacation villa, still located in the same old places, seem to be gaining renewed attention ... maybe just to verify they have not been changed.
Here's the rearranged pen now, or at least, for the moment. They love their princess bed from The Blissful Bunny so much, we had to leave that in the pen. And the wooden tunnel has already been used to gain access to the castle tower and to hop from the tower to the princess bed (and back).
Of course, you can check it out during the day on the BunCam.

Bunny proof your books
Long ago, before there was a Lucy & Ethel, Bunya was a lone wolf bunny bachelor. To pass the time, he took up reading in his personal library. We started out as many uneducated bunny owners. We were fortunate that the vet we chose was rabbit-savvy (an "exotics" vet) and that we found the House Rabbit Society.
But before we heard of "bunny-proofing"...
![]() |
Bunya was a voracious "reader".
![]() |
And soon, this is what "his" library looked like.
As a consequence, this is what our bookshelves look like now.
Lucy seems to like it just fine.

Bunny Monday Meme*day (Bun wrath)
You mean, it's not just Bunya, Lucy & Ethel that don't like their mani-pedi???
Our buns have that same A-frame stick chew toy and the same cardboard tunnel.
Bunny owners ... we're all crazy!

More bunstruction ... the "new" carpet
You may think you have bunny-proofed.
But bunnies are smart, curious, playful and persistent.
And looooove to chew.
*Sigh*
So when we cleared out the room for carpet, we found what they had done to the surge protector and are thankful we do not have any toasted bunnies. We thought it was safe.
The new surge protector wire is encased in protective tubing.
Keep your paws crossed.
Oh, yeah, and that "new" carpet ...
Well, that lasted about a week.
The bunnies range has been reduced by about 20%.
Basically, they have a den and little kitchen now.
*Sigh*
They're still worth it all.

The Good Ship Bunny
The Good Ship Bunny is ready to set sail into your bunny's dock, if The Price Is Right (hey, that would be a good name for a game show). It is one of the many bunny and non-bunny items up for auction at the September 28, 2013 GHRS Wine and Dine Silent Auction.
What bunny wouldn't love this wonderful playground?

Ethel and Bunya munching their basket thingy
The bunnies still love the toy they got as a gift from a friend. That it lost its little "tether ball" does not seem to bother them at all. Apparently, neither does the fact that it is upside down ... as far as they are concerned, it is 360 degrees of chewable.
Previously mentioned in this blog is that sometimes when you go to take a picture of some bunny activity, you don't get it but you might get something else fun.
In this short video, Bunya and Ethel have a brief ring around the rosie after which Bunya seems to be interested in starting a little k-i-s-s-i-n-g. However, Miss Ethel seems more intent on now working the basket from the inside.
Sorry, Bunya.
Bunya works it over from the inside while Ethel chews in from the outside. Lucy's giving them the butt; don't know what they did wrong (and Bunya and Ethel don't seem to care).

Bunny chew castle
Like all their toys from The Blissful Bunny, the bunnies love their castle, especially Ethel and Bunya.
Sometimes, they hang out together.
Sometimes, Ethel like to chill by herself.
By herself gives more room to stretch to chew the tasty wood.
And so sometimes ...
... Bunya is banished to the other tower.

They still love their bunny thing
This was a present for the bunnies (posted here in intact form). You can see that parts are missing as it is digested by the bunny toy demolishers. MIA includes the little tether ball that used to dangle in the opening. (It's still around, just no longer attached.)
But it still has a ways to go, so there should be weeks and weeks of chewing and hiding fun ahead.

Bunny apple wood taste test
Nuage (a gorgeous bunny) of Potentially Nervous performs a taste test: competitors' apple wood sticks versus their own brand o' branches. It's like Nuage wrote the script and did his own direction ... he's perfect - tosses the competition and mows down his own brand like a little bunny wood chipper.
