GHRS Bunnyfest and Hoppy Hour

A quick clip of GHRS Bunnyfest Hoppy Hour (Georgia House Rabbit Society). The star of this clip is Ostara. She was rescued after having been bitten/shaken by a dog - and her spirit is loving life. The pumpkin colored fluff starts off to the right of the frame, sucking up the love from one of the bunny bouncer volunteers. She circles south following the other buns and then north by the hidey box to be in the center of the action. Ostara is the one dragging her back legs.

Reminder - Do NOT.NOT.NOPE.NOPE.NO-WAY.NO-HOW let domestic pet rabbits loose outside "in the wild". They do not have their wild cousins' coping skills or survival instincts.

Here are a few of the bunnies there:

This little fellow was so cute!
(So many were.)

Some bunnies just piled in and snuggled
and relaxed while everyone else ran around.

So many bunnies, but all in motion -
Hard to get in-focus pictures!

Lots more bunny pictures taken by Bree the Bunny's human - album here.

There were desserts by the Cake Hag (yum), the GHRS Hop Shop branch, bunny salons for mani-pedis and grooming (ever seen a huge garbage can of bunny hair?), massages, cold laser therapy and vet checks. It was a very busy venue. Of course, we bought a ton of supplies and treats for Bunya and Ethel.

Thank you to the legion of volunteers and many vendors for their time and donations.
If you missed it this year, don't miss it next year!
And on International Rabbit Day, 09-23-2017 -- The Hare Ball!

(No cost to you) Bunny Rescue Fundraising Challenge

Rabbit Ramblings will donate funds to rescue rabbits based on the net increase in RR page "Likes" on its Facebook page by May 31, 2017. New Likes = $1 [Starting Likes count is 13,131.]

The Easter bunny rejects/releases started on Easter and GHRS rescued 6 bunnies - no holiday break for the volunteers. Yesterday, another four were saved, but not before injuries. --------------->

If you have already "Liked" RR (thank you), then tell your bunny friends to "Like" RR on Facebook, re-post the challenge or "share" it from the RR Facebook page. (Non-bunny people will “un-like” it and that gets us nowhere.)

P.S. On this page, there's a "Like Us on Facebook" button near the top of the right hand column, under the Pages list. The donation is for increased "page likes" (versus individual posts on the Facebook page - but you can "Like" those, too). FB comments are welcome, as are pictures of your bunnies being cute or mischievous, things that lend itself to a caption/meme.

If you would like to make a donation yourself, that would be generous and wonderful. No amount is too small - it all adds up and helps save bunnies.
Thank You!

Maximum Likes donation = $1,000.

GHRS Holiday Party

The Georgia House Rabbit Society holiday party in pictures. For more, see the GHRS Facebook page and the FB page of Bree the Bunny.

The mayhem of Hoppy Hour

There was a whole lotta' chinin' goin' on.
New acquaintances were made.
A brief scuffle or two if someone wanted to be alpha bun, but if they were persistent, they were put in an official time out.

Here are the cute bunnies...

These two beautiful bunnies imitated Lady & the Tramp, but over a dried kudzu leaf.

Cousins to a Tribble?

This scofflaw decided she would be a rebel and chew up the time out sign.

Some were relaxed enough to lay down.

One little bunny claimed a litter box for himself but was happy to share with and sniff the company that dropped by...

At one point, a LOT of company dropped in, including some hefty sized buns. Look closely to see him in the litter box - there are four bunnies inside it and he's the third from the left (or right, if you include the bun not in box).

Finally, some privacy away from the crushing crowds.

Other litter box friendships were established.

Some bunnies just wanted to be pet by the human bunny bouncers (Hoppy Hour Enforcers).

.

This big beautiful bunny parked herself to one side, under a chair and off the towels, rugs and mats that most of the bunnies played on.

There was cuteness everywhere you looked.

And GHRS gets the best Santa Paws to pose with the bunnies for Christmas pictures.

There was a Hop Shop for those last minute bunny gifts and even a vendor offering bunny box subscriptions, Rabbit's Paradise.
Sample holiday box

A grand time was had by all, bunnies and humans alike!

(You may think that was a lot of pictures - there are so many more cute bunnies, but I'll stop now.)

Ethel in her digging box

If you are a regular RR reader, you know that Sunday mornings is the regular time for cleaning the bunny pen. Everything is moved and disassembled to vacuum.

One of our best bunny purchases was their "fun house". Here is a picture of it with one of the castle towers on top of the fun house. Bunya and Ethel are snuggled inside. In winter, they go up there to enjoy the morning sunbeam that comes through the window.

Here is a post about the fun house: The bunnies' new BUNNY THING!!! It has more pictures in case you want to try to build one. Ours was a one-time project/fundraiser that we purchased from GHRS (lucky, because I have no such skills).

Well, the top was off the funhouse while we were cleaning, so here's Ethel playing around in the digging box portion (~40 sec).

[When I look at the published post, I cannot see the video.
I have reported this to Google.]

Bunnyfest 2015 with Hoppy Hour & Agility Course

A huge THANK YOU to all the volunteers who make this event possible and wonderful -- and that rescue, rehabilitate, and find homes for abandoned and abused rabbits. Oh, and educate the public about proper bunny care and what wonderful pets they can be.

Check them out to adopt a bunny, read great bunny care articles or donate:

CUTE BUNNIES
Cute buns everywhere... at Hoppy Hour (next section, below), on the agility course (further below), held by their humans, and in guest enclosures (so they could relax and their humans could mingle, too).

Chillaxin

Bunster?
(Bunny Hipster)

This little bunny was in constant motion so I have a dozen
or more blurry pictures of him. All of a sudden, he plopped
down (one leg out back) to survey his domain. Guess he'd
already passed his business cards around to everybunny else.

If Cousin It was a bunny.

HOPPY HOUR
A first for GHRS. Looked like a huge success.
If you would like to see the bunnies in action, check out the videos here, here and here.

Lots of humans, too.
Lots of toys, litter boxes, mazes, tubes...

Bunny networking

Bunny butt!
Somebody was comfortable enough to flop.

Several bunnies looked for humans to pet them.
They had no problem being immensely successful in such endeavors.
As I said...

Bountiful bunnies
Friends were made.

Crowded - there were plenty of restrooms.
Was wondering if this nuzzling couple
was already bonded or just met.

"Hop on in -- the hay is fine!"
"That's good,...a little more to the right."

Looking for pets in all the right places
"Where'd you go?"

Willow leaves - treats!
And the human bouncers,
just in case anyone got overly aggressive.
Or affectionate.

AGILITY COURSE
Another first for GHRS. It was not like some tournament contest obstacles. The bar was low but the couple of bunnies I observed weren't sure what to do. Consequently, the gentle volunteer showing it to the bunnies and putting the buns through their paces is the one who got the most exercise. I hope her back is okay. Maybe next year, they can give her a little rolling stool so she doesn't have to bend over so much. The course looked like you could set up a few home-made imitations; depending on your bunny's personality, it would be something fun to do to bond with your bun. And I'm sure they would not mind getting a few reward treats.

Coming to the fulcrum, about to...

"Whoa, whoa, whoa - was that an earthquake?"

Over you go

"I did it!"

"What's this?"
"Hey, lady. this thing is moving!"
