Racing Rabbit

He rounds the harepin curve with hare-raising speed. The tortoise was not even seen.
You don't need a car to race.  (17 seconds)

Montana bunnies! LOTS of Montana bunnies

Searching for some pictures on the computer, came across these from a trip to Montana, to a time before we were bunny slaves ...

This sign there warned us that all wildlife is dangerous. And we saw lots that were ... as we were just, well, driving down the road. Incredible, really. Beautiful, majestic. But, this is a bunny blog.

So what about wildlife that has been exposed to humans ... lives in really close proximity to them? Well, as close as you can in Montana.

These were said bunnies - not domesticated - wild.
Not seeing the future, I did not take enough pictures of them
to give you a true picture of just how many there were.
The field was vast - and covered in bunnies of all sizes.
But just one "look" - alike.

Close-up of snuggle bunnies.
You can see how close they let people get to them.
LUCY is not that comfortable with it.

Here's a bunny who positioned himself in the shade ...

... while this bunny was periscoping for bright sun,
somewhere between the picnic table and the basketball.

Bunnies. Just love 'em.

One day at the bunny races...

Kids have soap box derbies.
Maybe bunnies have litter box derbies.

Looks like Lucy's racer won by a hare.
(Groan amongst yourselves ... my mind ... a terrible waste.)

Birthday bunny stuff

That time of year, for me, where the bunny birthday cards begin to appear in my mail...
From Margot Elena Tokyo Milk
I've got way more than a few "gray hares" ... of the ones that are left.

Another bunny card
Received an origami bunny
from my life-long friend...

...seems this style origami bunny
inspired a sculpture

BIG bunny sculpture -
Can you imagine how hard it was
to fold that sheet metal?!?

Bunny being installed roadside
You can read about the sculpture here and here.
Thanks, Hank, for the origami and the related links!

From my wife. Inside caption:
All I want to do
is snuggle up with you!
(Fun Pix from American Greetings)
Now, if we could just get our bunnies snuggling up again...

Bunnies Everywhere

Coincidentally, this blog recently made reference to the tortoise and the hare.
And in a post a few days ago, the semi-rhetorical question was posed:
Is it just me or, if you like bunnies, does bunny stuff just seem to find you?

And then I open my magazine and this is the picture for the article:

 Insert spooky music here.

The Simpsons - Giant Bunnies

Yeah, someone on The Simpsons must like bunnies.

I think this was from their latest Halloween Treehouse of Horror episode, at least in part a take-off of Avatar. In this clip of Nature versus the Machines, Nature is represented by giant bunnies - who "thump" to destroy the enemy!

Prior observations of TV bunnies were here.
TV commericals with bunnies were in 3 posts: 1, 2, 3 (so far)

Adoptables at GHRS

Ran into GHRS for supplies and there were so many cute bunnies, I decided to take some pictures and share. (Only had my cell phone though.)

Could not get a picture to do this
cute bunny justice.
Looks like he's wearing his camo.
Cute couple!

Neighbors
Right hand bunny, without the screen

And of course, the incredibly rare
desk-dwelling bunny, Miss Waffles!!!
Write her at nghrscharla@bellsouth.net
for funny and helpful bunny advice.

Unfortunately, there are lots more bunnies there than these pictured here, and lots more are waiting for a space.
So if you are thinking about getting a wonderful pet, get educated and then go rescue a couple of bunnies.

If you have a bad hare day...

My sister sent me this as part of a list of unforgivable spelling mistakes.
It has the source of the original picture as here.

Somebody, quick, what's the address?!?

As noted yesterday, the bunnies have started their seasonal shed. I pet Bunya or Ethel (Lucy doesn't really like it unless she's being mesmerized), often stroking them head to butt. When they finally sit up to leave and groom themselves, they leave behind a big hair tumbleweed bunny.

Wish that place in the picture was in the neighborhood.
Or made house calls.
