Japan: a bunny-rich environment #1

 Took a lot of pictures and may have even purchased one or two of these.

Museum gift shop (yes, we got one)

Jewelry, a pin

Museum gift shop
(yes - how could you not get
samurai bunnies?)

Our guide's t-shirt
was the name of a bar.
Total coincidence

Bunny shrine

It was the smallest sake cup,
but I had to pick it.
Them's the rules.

same ones as a gift years ago
from Hayakawa-San & Yuko-San)

A Very Bunny Chanukah

Any bunny and Chanukah tie-ins???

Well, of course there are! Here are some examples ...
Bunnies lighting a menorah
is an animated ecard on doozycards.com
This bunny sitting on a carrot is a Menorah.
No longer available  :(

You can buy cards with a bunny and Chanukah theme here.
A bunny book about the holiday for little kids is available here.

Bunny and chocolate ... yum!

Needlepoint bunny eating a latke*.
Don't think a bunny would
really eat a latke, but it's cute.
(* fried grated and seasoned potato pancake,
traditionally served on Chanukah.
Think of a really excellent little hash brown round.)

Happy Chanukah - The Festival of Lights!

(No cost to you) Bunny Rescue Fundraising Challenge

Rabbit Ramblings will donate funds to rescue rabbits based on the net increase in RR page "Likes" on its Facebook page by May 31, 2017. New Likes = $1 [Starting Likes count is 13,131.]

The Easter bunny rejects/releases started on Easter and GHRS rescued 6 bunnies - no holiday break for the volunteers. Yesterday, another four were saved, but not before injuries. --------------->

If you have already "Liked" RR (thank you), then tell your bunny friends to "Like" RR on Facebook, re-post the challenge or "share" it from the RR Facebook page. (Non-bunny people will “un-like” it and that gets us nowhere.)

P.S. On this page, there's a "Like Us on Facebook" button near the top of the right hand column, under the Pages list. The donation is for increased "page likes" (versus individual posts on the Facebook page - but you can "Like" those, too). FB comments are welcome, as are pictures of your bunnies being cute or mischievous, things that lend itself to a caption/meme.

If you would like to make a donation yourself, that would be generous and wonderful. No amount is too small - it all adds up and helps save bunnies.
Thank You!

Maximum Likes donation = $1,000.

Easter bunny napkin folding

Martha Stewart bunny napkin recipe
Materials: Cotton or linen napkins, starched

1. Fold starched napkin into thirds to form a rectangle. (If you're using a square napkin, you'll need to fold in half, and then fold in half again to get a long rectangular shape.)
2. Crease in half to create a center line for reference; fold top corners down along this line.
3. Fold up from bottom corners along dotted lines.
4. Bring left and right edges together on center line.

5. Flip upside down and over. Turn up bottom point.

6. To fasten: Fold left and right corners back; tuck one corner into the pocket of the other. Pull out bunny ears first; open up base.

If you are a little less formal, here's a video showing how to fold paper napkins:

Happy New Year! (and some bunny care and human care)

New Year's reminder from the humans:
Bunnies do NOT like fireworks.
It stresses them just like other sudden and/or loud noises.

If your bunny's neighborhood is firecracker noisy, keep the buns cool and quiet.
Close the windows and doors.

If needed to "cover" firecracker noise, play music - peaceful, easy listening (not loud).
Think elevator music. No hair bands or hare bands. Stay away from 1812 Overture.
Your TV service might even have a suitable channel in its lineup - you just never tune to those channels.

If you do not already have boxes for them to play on and in, get some plain cardboard boxes (not slick or a lot of ink/color; no staples, labels or tape). Cut at least two openings in each box big enough for your bunny to get in and out ... they can hide in them, to further mute the noise and feel a little safer.

Keep them company and reassure them that everything's okay. Pet them if they are the petting kind of bunnies. Have a couple of healthy treats handy (Bunya told me to say that).

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hi there. Bunya here.
First, Lucy & Ethel and I want to wish you a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.
Please be careful in your celebrations.
If you drink, don't drive.
We don't have anything against moderate imbibing ... the humans don't know it but we always ferment a little carrot juice to celebrate, too. But we are staying home to celebrate. We hate cars.
Even if you don't drink, be careful driving, because not everyone is as smart as you.
Don't text while driving either. Just concentrate.
Also, be kind to each other next year. And beyond.
Be kind to all pets and animals, too. (But especially bunnies.)
Have fun & be safe!
Wishing you a very bunny Christmas!!!
One of my all-time favorite bunny pictures, my standard Christmas bun - and it's not even our bunny!
*Sigh*  Okay, Mom, I'll pose because it makes you so happy and,
after all, I am so darn cute.
This is Mr Cookie, one of the cutest bunnies ever and my way of wishing everyone a joyous, happy and safe holiday! Hope Santa Paws bring you what you want and what you need.
Bunnies home from their staycation
Took a long weekend away so the bunnies had a staycation at GHRS. They are not fans of car rides and Ethel seems the most traumatized by them.
When I picked them up, they all turned their backs and flipped me off (if you have bunnies, you know what this looks like... it's the bunny way of shooting you the "bird"). Talk to the butt because the bunny's pissed at you.
Huddled together in the carrier on the ride home.
Ears were shaking like leaves in a hurricane.
With their new rug came a new long tube
(in the center of the rolled up carpet).
Happy to see they didn't just hide at home,
but explored and played.
AFTER flipping me off as they exited the carrier. AGAIN.
You can see the prior rug tube
(bigger diameter) at the top of this picture.
They've chewed through parts and still love it.
When I went to let them out and feed them breakfast,
they seemed to have no problem remembering that
they get a morning papaya treat.
It looks like Lucy and Ethel are head-to-head
to see who will get groomed -
they are actually trying to snatch each other's papaya.
After the morning rituals,
Ethel, as usual, seeks the high ground.
This is the highest perch they can reach.
And there Ethel settled.
And home is home again.
